With my upcoming MS Bike Tour, I have been training more and more. Especially with upcoming travel before my ride, I figured that I would attempt 70 miles yesterday. A reasonable goal with plans to do 85 next weekend (which should fully prepare me) with a lot of shorter rides during the week.
I should have known that the day was going to be bad, because about a mile into the ride, I realized that I forgot to carb up. No worries, though. I had plenty of water and Odwalla bars. With that mental assurement, I continued on my merry way.
About 2.5 miles into the ride, I come to an areay where the trail had been recently paved (w/in the past 2 days, b/c it wasn't paved so nicely my previous ride). I was doing about 23mph and coasting. No one was in front of me, and there was a family (a mother and father walking while their 8year old was on his bicycle) in the opposite lane. I quickly approach the family. About 20 feet from the boy, I notice him slowy veer towards the center of the path. I make a slight adjustment to steer towards the right. A second later, I quickly engage both of my brakes as I notice the boy making no actions to veer back into his lane. I hear my slim tires skidding on the new pavement as I brace for a head on collision with this eight year old. |

So, I was trolling through one of my communities, and came across a few interesting posts pertaining to the movie The DaVinci Code (released on May 19th). Personally, I'm kinda excited about this movie, because I really don't want to read the book -- call it laziness, if you want.
You can check out the website the guy created at www.albinocode.com to see what I am talking about. |

On my way home from the gym, I heard an ad for this tv show on FX called Black. White..
At first, I was a bit excited about this show coined "Trading Races" considering I find anything regarding racism and whatnot interesting.
I know that I'm a special case (because of what I have experienced growing up with albinism), but for some reason, I have a few issues with this show. The premise of the show is to have two families (one black and one white) to get a feel for what it's like to be the opposite race. This seems like a great idea in theory, but I think there are missing links to this little experiment.

Today, on the way to lunch, Patrick and I were diverted from our normal path down Route 7 through downtown Leesburg. We were a bit confused by the amount of traffic, then we saw the bomb squad vans sitting by the Mighty Midget Kitchen. Then we knew something was up! It took practically 30 minutes to get 1.5 miles down 7. We aren't sure whether it's the courhouse or the government building. I was joking that someone was probably pissed off about having to pay such outrageous property taxes. Patrick was claiming that Osama was in the house! haha. Anyway, the "quarantine" section was about 2 blocks from my office.. a little freaky, I'll admit for our small community. I'll keep you posted.
UPDATE: According to Leesburg2Day.Com, the bomb threat was for the government building. Unfortunately, there are no leads.
P.S. Mom, I'm fine! Don't worry! (: |

It appears that EbiCom has been bought out by some XFone company. What does this mean for yerot? Well, basically, time for me to find (yet another) new home for her. Fortunately, I have managed to find one already, but there will be a number of system maintainence issues [mainly DNS and IP issues] as well as a newly incurred financial responsibility (yes, no longer free ninety-nine). If you are one of the numerous people hosting a website on my server, please contact me as soon as possible for information.
UPDATE: The server will go down today around 1:30 CST. The DNS changes should trickle by tomorrow. The new IP address is 216.76.4.76 so update your registars / DNSes.
UPDATE #2: The server appears to be back up and fully functional! This was probably the shortest downtime ever for a yerot transition. Thanks Thespis for everything. You are awesome, man! |

FINALLY!
I've been wanting a real snow since the begenning of winter. For some reason, snow really excites me. I know we had a "dusting" back in December, but that was only maybe 4". From the looks of it, we got upwards of 8 to 10 inches! You can see photo here!

So, I was listening to DC101 this afternoon at work, and Donnie played the 24 CTU ringtone! So, during lunch, I spent 10 minutes hunting it down and crafting it for my phone. If you want it for your phone, let me know, and I'll hook you up! ;)
I can't wait til Sundee finds out! She's going to be totally jealous! |
